Student Exchange Programme 2025

On 15th October 2025, a Student Exchange Programme was jointly organised by Sikkim Government College (SGC), Burtuk, and Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC), Tadong, in collaboration with the NEP Committee. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Dr. Nar Maya Subba, NEP Coordinator, in the Staff Room of NBBGC. In her address, Dr. Subba highlighted the objectives and significance of the exchange programme, emphasising its role in enhancing academic exposure, peer learning, and collaboration among students from both colleges.

Following the introductory session, the assigned student volunteers escorted the visiting participants to their respective classrooms. For this programme, SGC, Burtuk, nominated 35 students representing various departments- Commerce, English, Education, History, Nepali, Political Science, and Sociology. Likewise, NBBGC nominated an equal number of 35 students from the same departments to participate in the exchange.

Additionally, Dr. Kaden Lhamu Bhutia, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, SGC Burtuk, conducted a special session with the Economics students of NBBGC on the same day.

The following faculty members were assigned to conduct joint classes with the visiting and host students:

  1. Geeta Nirola- Department of Nepali
  2. Sonam Choden Bhutia-Department of Sociology
  3. Rajen Upadhyay- Department of History
  4. Punam Chhetri- Department of Education
  5. Dushyant Kharel- Department of Commerce
  6. Sajan Subbaa- Department of Political Science
  7. Anju Gurung- Department of English

The classes began at 11:00 a.m. and concluded at 12:00 p.m. After the class, the visiting students and faculty members were invited for lunch hosted by NBBGC, followed by a feedback session. Lastly, the certificate distribution programme was held subsequently in the presence of the Principal, Dr. D. Purohit, and was chaired by Dr. Krishna Sharma, a member of the NEP Committee. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Krishna Sharma, expressing gratitude to all participants, faculty members, and organisers for their cooperation and contribution to the success of the event.
